California Malpractice Lawyers Report 2027.
What 256 firms tell you, and what they don’t.
Every listing on Find Malpractice Lawyers is built by reading the firm’s own website, linking its lead attorney’s State Bar of California record, writing down only what is stated there, and re-checking it each month. Put together, those 256 firms across 64 California cities give a picture of who handles medical malpractice and nursing home neglect cases that nobody else publishes. Data as of Nov 7, 2026.
Press summary
- No firm publishes what it charges. 218 of 256 firms (85.2%) advertise a free consultation and 134 (52.3%) say they work on contingency (“no fee unless we win”), but none publish a fee percentage or any price on their own website. California law caps contingency fees in medical malpractice cases (Business and Professions Code §6146), so the question to ask a firm is which share applies to your case.
- Fewer than one in eight search results is a listable malpractice firm. Our Google Maps searches for malpractice and elder-neglect lawyers across California returned 2,154 law-firm results. Only 252 (11.7%) were confirmed as firms that take these cases, with an Active State Bar lead attorney and a working website; the first monthly re-check found 2 closed or merged and 6 new, for 256 listed.
- Most lead attorneys were admitted 20 or more years ago. The lead attorney named for each firm was admitted to the State Bar of California a median of 21 years ago. 143 of 256 (55.9%) have 20 or more years since admission; 24 (9.4%) have fewer than 10.

- What it covers: the 256 California law firms listed on Find Malpractice Lawyers on Nov 7, 2026 that take medical malpractice or nursing home and elder neglect cases. It is our directory, not a census: some firms aren’t listed yet.
- Stated, not verified: fees, practice areas, languages and availability are counted as each firm states them on its own website; admission years come from the State Bar of California profile. A firm that doesn’t mention something is counted as not stating it. How we check.
- Not a ranking: nothing here rates, ranks or recommends a firm or lawyer. General information, not legal advice.
- No personal data: the CSV files hold only aggregated counts and shares, no names, phone numbers, emails or addresses.
- Corrections: if a firm’s details are wrong, tell us and we fix the listing; see corrections and updates.
