Read the record.
Then make the call yourself.
After a medical injury, or when a parent has been hurt in care, families often don’t know where to start looking for a lawyer, or how to tell whether one is licensed. Find Malpractice Lawyers lists California law firms that handle medical malpractice cases (misdiagnosis, surgical errors, birth injury, medication errors) and nursing home and elder abuse and neglect, with each lawyer’s State Bar of California record linked. You read the listings and contact a firm yourself.
What we are, and what we are not.
This site is a directory, not a law firm or lawyer referral service. We do not recommend, endorse or refer you to any lawyer, and lawyers do not pay us for referrals or a share of fees. Listings marked “Advertisement” are paid placements. The information here is general, not legal advice, and using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. Check any lawyer's license on the State Bar of California's website (calbar.ca.gov).
We do not choose a lawyer for you, match you with one, or pass your details or the facts of your situation to any firm. There is no intake form. Contact is always the firm’s own phone and website.
A growing collection.
The directory lists 252 firms across 64 California areas. It is a researched starting point, not a complete list of California firms, and inclusion is not a recommendation. Listings are in alphabetical order, or by distance if you share your location.
Sourced facts only.
We use each firm’s own website and official business listings for contact details, practice areas, offices and hours, and the State Bar of California attorney profile for license status, year admitted, whether public discipline is on record, and any certified specialty. Every profile links to its sources and shows when we checked them. A check date does not mean the firm or the State Bar updated the page that day. Office hours are shown in California (Pacific) time.
The State Bar record.
A firm is listed only when its lead attorney’s State Bar profile shows an Active license. Where a firm names other attorneys, we link each one’s own profile we have checked. If the profile shows public discipline, we say so and link to it; we never summarise or characterise it. “Certified Specialist” appears only where the State Bar profile lists a Board of Legal Specialization certification, worded as the State Bar does. A firm’s own site calling a lawyer a “specialist” is not shown. How to check a California lawyer.
The trust check.
Every profile shows the same list of facts, each as plain confirmed or not confirmed, with its source. It is not a score, rating or ranking, and it never decides the order of the list.
- Real, sourced business. Contact details from official sources.
- State Bar of California attorney profile. Linked, with license status, admission, public discipline yes/no and any certified specialty.
- State Bar number published. Whether the firm prints it on its own site.
- Se habla español. Whether the firm’s site says it serves clients in Spanish.
- Languages spoken, as stated.
- Free consultation stated.
- Contingency fee stated. Quoted as the firm writes it. California requires contingency fee agreements in writing.
- 24/7 availability stated.
- Office locations, as stated.
No ratings, reviews or results.
We publish no star ratings, review counts, review links, testimonials, endorsements, case results, verdicts or settlement amounts, and no “best”, “top” or “leading” claims. Photos, when shown, come from the firm’s own site and are credited to their source; firms can ask for a replacement or removal.
What “Advertisement” means.
Some firms pay a flat fee for a Featured placement. It is an advertisement for visibility only, labeled “Advertisement” on every card, profile and area page where it appears, and shown in its own slot apart from the alphabetical list. It is never a recommendation or endorsement, never paid per lead, call, case or referral, and never a share of legal fees. It does not change a firm’s trust check or State Bar record.
For law firms.
Claim requests and suggested corrections are free. Requests are held for review; submitting a form does not change a public profile or prove ownership. Ownership is established through a firm contact that was independently published before the request.
Who runs this.
Find Malpractice Lawyers is a Winback Engine project. Winback Engine also offers firms services that are separate from a directory listing; a listing is free and does not depend on them.
General information only, not legal advice. Questions about how the directory works? Read the FAQ.
